The Fate of Tyrlon and other Dubious Things

A few more quick updates on the project front.  As you know i’ve been working on a website project for a company that involves PHP with a MySQL back-end.  That project is still ongoing and we haven’t actually signed a contract yet so i’m a bit loathe to do more work on it until i’m sure that I will actually get paid (this is very important when doing contract work!).  I’ve been burned in this respect in the past so I’ll probably hold off until we get a contract in for the actual project.

DeedCAD is going well but not actually selling any at the moment as we are working on a demo for it and waiting on the new fiscal year to pop around for the various counties that want to buy it.  That happens July 1st so another couple of months before we should get some more sales in.  After that we want to get the product out to resellers and get demos in the hands of interested parties and we think that will go really well.

On the gaming front I got my character in Age of Conan up to level 31 but the game just really isn’t growing on me that much.  It has a ton of issues still and really needs another 2-3 months of polish work.  I’m still debating whether I want to subscribe after my mostly-free 40 days (I got an extra 10 days for buying early access).  I guess we’ll see how soon they can actually get the auction house, mail, and bank system put back in (it has been disabled since early access over a week ago!).  Not having those three items means that the economy of the game is non-existent and the game really does feel like a single player game that had some multi-player elements tacked onto it.  The game has a ton of potential but it is not there yet and I don’t think they are going to maintain that many subscribers after the first couple of months.  Many people are already hitting level cap and by the end of the free month i’d guess that at least 10% of players will be at level cap which is a bit fast.
