Age of Conan - The Saga Continues

May 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, i’ve been playing Age of Conan some more and have my main character up to level 29.  He is a Dark Templar which acts a lot like the class from Diablo 2 that could do vampirism abilities.  Basically, the class revolves around “lifetapping” monsters so that you can drain health from the enemy and give it to yourself.

The game performance is merely “ok” on my current machine but I hope to upgrade to a new one in a few weeks once the Western Digital Velociraptor Hard drives finally come out!  As far as bugs, there are several quirky bugs with the user interface, but the most annoying bug is that they have had the tradeposts disabled since day 2 of early access.  The tradeposts contain the auction house, the mail system, and the bank system all rolled into one!  This is not a great design since it is a single point of failure (in this case exploits using the Auction House) and that single point of failure can cause all three items to be unavailable indefinitely.  They definitely need to rethink grouping all of those functions together and separate out the auction house into a separate entity.

I’ll keep you updated on my continuing adventures on the Set server in Age of Conan.
