Will the Real Mummy 3 Please Stand Up?

As you may remember, the Mummy movie series went through a couple of iterations and then had a spin-off called the Scorpion King that many treated like The Mummy 3 but it wasn’t. It was a showcase for wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

However, the lack of a real Mummy 3 movie is about to change when The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor comes out this year. What is even more cool is that movie co-stars Jet Li my favorite martial arts actor.

All of the original actors are back except the actress playing his wife did not return and the actual mummy himself isn’t involved in the story since he was the villain in two of the movies already. The Mummy series has always been a great popcorn flick with good humor, action, CGI effects, and the occasional scare as some horrible monster jumps out at you. I think the Mummy series would be suited really well to showing in Digital RealD theaters since the 3-D effects could work well with creepy crawlies.

A new trailer just went up this week over at MSN Movies and it is looking pretty good!
