Well, I was able to play last night with both of my friends for once and actually do so with minimal problems. I crashed 2x the entire day yesterday playing for a total of roughly 10 hours or so.
The reason I was able to do this was that the developers pushed out a really nice patch that fixed a lot of the hitching, stalls, memory leaks, crashes, and general performance and stability issues. I actually was able to turn most of the graphics up to Medium-High settings and still get 40-50 FPS even with my older system.
I do still plan on upgrading so that I can crank the visuals all the way up, but now i’m not in such a rush to do so. I went ahead and pre-ordered the game from EBGames this morning so that I can get the War Mammoth and the extra inventory bag. Not a huge deal, but if i’m going to buy it anyway, I might as well pre-order. I think if they can crank out another patch that fixes just as many bugs in the next week as they did in the past week, the launch will be in fairly good shape. The game will still need a lot of work of course, but it is getting closer to what I would call “releasable”.
