Ok, yesterday was Earth Day and I totally messed up on not writing something nice and environmentally friendly so i’m going to try to rectify that today. First of all I have something to say to Earth: “Thanks for putting up with us!”.
One of the best things we can do to help ye olde Mother Earth is to recycle products. One of the things that we can recycle but you often don’t hear about as often is called Glass Cullet. Glass Cullet is basically broken pieces of glass or even bottles or glass that didn’t quite make it past the quality check when it was first made. Companies can buy glass cullet and use it in a wide variety of applications including making more glass!
If you didn’t realize how glass it made, it is created from sand heated up to high temperatures and then created into various shapes. Recycling glass helps out the environment because it takes lower temperatures to re-melt glass cullet and then it can be shaped into something else. Heating up anything requires a great deal of energy or some sort of fuel (such as natural gas). Any time we can reduce our energy needs we are helping out the environment because producing energy creates pollution.
So, i’m a day late on Earth Day, but i’m trying to do my part to help out!
