As I mentioned recently I have been trying out Netflix and have taken advantage of that to try out some BBC series that I normally wouldn’t have been able to see because I don’t want to pay $100 for a 13-episode series. I’m not sure if this is just that British people are willing to pay 50-60 pounds for a short TV set or if it is because of the really weak dollar that we currently have. Either way, I’m used to paying around $50 for a 20-24 episode season of a TV series, instead of twice that for almost half as many episodes!
Robin Hood is a great show that the BBC did back in 2006. It is currently in its third season and i’m looking forward to the rest coming out on DVD so that I can get them from Netflix when I actually start a paid subscription, probably next month. Dr. Who is also really good, I didn’t really remember the old series much but I did watch it a few times as a kid. The production values on the new series are pretty good and in line with most of the sci-fi shows that you see on TV today. The Doctor is witty and funny as is his +1 “Rose”. I’ve only watched the first 3 episodes so far and will only get to watch the 2nd disc before my free trial runs out so I will have to wait till I subscribe to finish the first season and start on the 2nd one.
Both disc sets have some pretty nice extras though, so I guess the BBC does a pretty good job with filming extra things for the DVDs. The quality of the transfer is pretty good as well and it seems to present well in 16:9 widescreen on my 50″ DLP HDTV.

Dr. Who is also available on “Watch Instantly” on the Netflix website. I just haven’t had time to sit down and watch it yet.
