The Fate of Tyrlon and other Dubious Things

A chronicle about life, software development, games and whatever else I come up with!

Nature, Interrupted

January 31st, 2008 · No Comments

I sometimes randomly write poetry as the mood hits me and will throw it up on here as well.  This one is kind of random and i’m not trying to make any sort of point other than thinking of a scene in my mind and about the connections of life. Enjoy!

Whispering winds caress the sleeping grass as darkness falls,

Awaking it from its sun swept slumber,

Gently swaying in the breeze as it thaws,

Icy droplets creating prismatic sprays of wonder,

A tiny creature stirs on a blade of grass,

Crawling downward on the icy highway,

Reaching the hard and infinite plain at last,

The creature sets off to greet the day,

But alas, from somewhere up high,

A flash of wings and the tiny creature is no more,

As the bird floats in the gentle breeze it lets out a plaintive cry,

Its mate calls in return not knowing what’s in store,

A pounding thunder lights the scene with a flash,

The mate plummets to earth as the bird watches in dismay,

Dogs bark from somewhere below as they dash,

Through the brush they find their way,

The sun rises on the scene,

A man steps upon the icy grass,

The sound muffled by the cries of a bird somewhere above,

Nature, interrupted.
