I have joined the growing number of people with Rock Band who apparently abuse the poor drum pedal too much. It broke on me while playing some songs on hard tonight. I just got the game about 3 weeks ago and the drums have been used for maybe 5 hours total. The pedal itself is pretty cheap plastic and doesn’t seem to be reinforced nearly enough to handle the abuse of someone doing double kicks on the bass drum like a lot of songs have.
EA is apparently aware of the issue though, as the replacement pedals you can get have been reinforced some more compared to the version of the pedal that went out with the early shipments of the game. If your pedal breaks you can hop on over to the warranty page and answer a couple of quick questions, fill out your shipping information and they’ll send you a new pedal and a return label so you can ship your old pedal back in the same box! The warranty service doesn’t have an option for “my pedal piece snapped in half you silly clods!” so you’ll have to make do with “My drum pedal is not working properly” and then answer no when it asks you: “Does the pedal spring back when you press down on it?”. I think that second question is actually a valid answer, since no, my BROKEN IN HALF pedal does not actually spring back up when I press on it. Instead it makes a sad clunking sound as the bottom piece flips around limply. Sure am glad they have a warranty on these suckers, and I may get one of those metal overlays or a Woodrock pedal to replace with eventually.
