Don’t know how I missed it but apparently Perpetual Entertainment almost went under and ditched Star Trek Online. They sold the license to another developer in the San Francisco Bay area so the game isn’t cancelled but the company they sold the license to gets some content / ideas etc but no source code.
What this means is that that new developer will have to start over from scratch, which i’m starting to think is not such a bad thing. It had been rumored that Perpetual was just going to do ship exteriors only (they used to claim interiors etc would be in as well) and their latest screenshots had taken on a more “cartoony” feel to them which I really didn’t like. Hopefully the new developer will be able to do the game justice, but it likely won’t be seen now until 2010 or later which makes me a sad panda…or cat.
I leave you with this thought..
