For once I have finally done it, reached the level cap in an MMO (massively multiplayer online game)! This may seem rather silly, but i’ve played 10+ MMOs in my time but usually get bored pretty quickly and give it up halfway through the game. Lord of the Rings Online is the first game that kept my interest for long enough to actually reach level 50, which is the highest level you can be in that game for now. What made it even more fun is both of my friends also hit 50, one today and one last night. We’ve been playing Lord of the Rings Online since April 24, 2007, so it did take us a good long while since we only have time to play on average once a week (usually Saturday nights).
It was kind of weird doing quests and not seeing any experience numbers anymore though, kind of takes some of the fun out of doing them. At this point anything you do at the level cap is sheerly for the entertainment of doing the content, since you don’t get money for experience or anything like that. I’m not even sure the experience you gain is stored away in a hidden repository for when they raise the level cap, but that would be pretty neat if it was. Everyone is speculating that the first expansion is probably going be Khazad Dum, more commonly known as Moria. It should be a really interesting area to play in, since it is really large and indoors which makes it fairly difficult for the developers to design.
If you haven’t tried the game yet, I encourage you to try it out by doing the 7-day free trial.
