The car, the book, and the man in the pink suit!

January 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Ok, so my title was a bit misleading. There will be no discussion of a man in a pink suit for this blog post! If you were really excited by this prospect, I feel saddened that I misled you, but also sad that you were interested in pink suits.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, on to the car. The Infiniti is holding up well so far, just passed over the 2,000 mile mark this week and am still loving it. Of course, this may have to do with not having had to make a single car payment yet (those start the beginning of February!). I am already seeing the increased insurance costs on my credit card, but it is not too terribly bad. I’m hoping that the Infiniti will be more reliable than my last car (Oldsmobile Intrigue) because it definitely started breaking down right after I got it with 30,000 miles on it. I sure was glad I bought the extended warranty on it because it saved me about $6,000 in repairs over the time I had the vehicle!

And now, for the book. I’ve been working on a novel for several years off and on and keep re-writing it over and over. So, instead of rewriting it all the time and never finishing it, i’m going to start posting it to this blog so everyone can read it and give me feedback etc. It is a high fantasy novel and Tyrlon is actually the name of one of the cities in the book. The current length i’m at represents about 1/3 of the first book (it will be two volumes since it was going to be too long in my original plotting). If you printed it out into a paperback it would be about 200 pages long so far so the length of the first book should be around 600 pages when I finish with it. I will post a chapter each week and hopefully can actually be motivated to start writing some more on it as I post them up here. I will also create a new page over on the upper left where it will maintain links to each chapter of the book as well as the entirety of what I have so far once we catch up to where i’m writing at the moment. I will try to utilize this blog to discuss some of the issues of trying to write a novel length story your first time out, and if I ever get it done the struggles to try and get it published!
