The Fate of Tyrlon and other Dubious Things

Figured i’d do a lumped in post to update on various things that have been going on.

First, the Macbook Air doesn’t have an ethernet port!  Gah!  Apparently you have to use your ONE USB port to get a USB->Ethernet adapter.  I guess they assume you will be using the thing wirelessly all the time!  The upgrade to the SSD drive also costs over $1000 extra!  I sure hope the speed is worth it.  As someone on Slashdot said, “Just wait until they come out with the black version!”.

Jumpgate Evolution has a new dev blog up over at MMORPG.Com about the AI System.  MMORPG has had several dev blogs from various developers from NetDevil and they have all been pretty interesting.  NetDevil is unique in that they are working on a fairly large-scale MMO with a team of less then 15 people!  There are other MMOs out there with teams of 1-3 people working on them, but they have no realistically possible release dates because of that.  Jumpgate should come out this fall and if not then by the Spring of 2009 for sure.

Weather: brr, its gettin’ cold out there again!  We’re supposed to get a couple of inches of snow and THEN a quarter inch of ice.  How do you say fun?  If your guess was “Sliding down a steep hill in your expensive car like a drunk ballerina on ice” you win the big prize!

Lord of the Rings Online:  Still trucking away in this game, enjoying every day I get time to play!  I should hit the level cap this weekend.  This is significant for me in that I have played 15+ MMOs and have NEVER ever gotten to the level cap!  I always burn out or get bored (in the case of EVE it is impossible) before reaching the “endgame” which I guess is a good thing since most MMOs just have you do raiding over and over and over and over to get that “uber” piece of equipment.  In LOTRO I plan to switch over to my Guardian alt and keep on trucking.  I also am going to use my main to start doing some PVP as I find it pretty enjoyable.
