National Treasure 2

December 25th, 2007 · No Comments

Finally got access to a computer with some internet again! National Treasure 2 I really enjoyed because it is what I like to refer to as a “popcorn flick” in that the plot is fairly predictable as are the gags and light-hearted romance story, but THAT’S OK! Some people try to take movies like National Treasure far too seriously. I really don’t think the writer/director intended to win an Oscar for their work, so they are perfectly happy with making a fun holiday movie for people to enjoy. I always have liked the idea of hidden treasure buried in plain sight or near or under various landmarks around the world. Some of the jokes are actually pretty funny as well. Feel free to check out the first National Treasure on DVD before you go out and see the sequel in the theaters.

On the rental front, I finally got to see The Simpsons Movie which was hilarious. I’m not normally a huge fan of the Simpsons and only have the first three seasons on DVD but the movie definitely had some good themes to it about family being important and not being selfish.  I also watched The Last Legion and Rush Hour 3. The Last Legion was decent, its a classic roman emperor child exiled into Britain where he is accompanied by a guy named Merlin who doesn’t actually do any magic and then they live happily ever after, in Britain instead of Rome type movie (breathe!). Ok, so its not a classic story by any means, but it still works ok. Rush Hour 3 was predictable and some of the jokes have gotten old by now. The credits with the outtakes were still hilarious though. I’m starting to think the outtakes are the only reason I watch the various Rush Hour movies, one can only take so much Chris Tucker at a time!
